Pinpoint Test K : The Rear Window Wiper Stays On Continuously (Liftgate)
- K1 CHECK THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) OUTPUT CONTROL USING THE REAR WIPER RELAY (WPR_RLY_REAR) PID (PARAMETER IDENTIFICATION)
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, view the BCM Parameter Identifications (PIDs).
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, command the BCM rear wiper motor PID WPR_RLY_REAR on then off.
Does the rear wiper motor deactivate when commanded off?
Yes INSTALL a new wiper/washer switch. REFER to: Steering Column Multifunction Switch RH . TEST the system for normal operation. If the concern is still present, GO to K6 No GO to K2 - K2 CHECK THE REAR WINDOW WIPER MOTOR RELAY
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect Rear Window Wiper Motor Relay.
- Substitute a known good relay.
- Ignition ON.
Does the rear wiper motor continue to operate?
Yes GO to K3 No REMOVE the known good relay. INSTALL a new rear window wiper relay. - K3 CHECK THE REAR WINDOW WIPER MOTOR RELAY OUTPUT
- Ignition OFF.
- Remove the known good relay.
- Ignition ON.
Does the rear window wiper motor continue to operate?
Yes GO to K4 No GO to K5 - K4 CHECK THE REAR WINDOW WIPER MOTOR RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect Rear Window Wiper Motor C4218.
- Ignition ON.
- Connect:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C4218-3 Ground
Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the circuit. No INSTALL a new rear window wiper motor. REFER to: Rear Window Wiper Motor - Vehicles With: Manual Liftgate . - K5 CHECK THE REAR WINDOW WIPER MOTOR RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect BCM C2280B.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2280B-43 Ground
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to K7 No REPAIR the circuit. - K6 CHECK FOR CORRECT SASM (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR MODULE) OPERATION
- Disconnect and inspect all the SASM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminal - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the SASM. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSB. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and follow the TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new SASM. REFER to: Steering Angle Sensor Module (SASM) . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues. - K7 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION
- Disconnect and inspect all the BCM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminal - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the BCM. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSB. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and follow the TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, Refer to BCM Guided Routine Testing . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
