Transmission - 1.0L EcoBoost (92kW/125PS): Installation

NOTE: If transmission disassembly or installation of a new transmission is necessary, install the manual shift lever.
Install the manual shift lever and the nut.
Torque
: 18 lb.ft (24 Nm)

NOTE: If transmission disassembly or installation of a new transmission is necessary, install the transmission vent tube.
Install the transmission vent tube.

NOTE: If transmission disassembly or installation of a new transmission is necessary, install the transmission insulator bracket.
Install the transmission insulator support bracket and the bolts.
Torque
: 46 lb.ft (62 Nm)
- Install Special Service Tool: 307-566 Retainer, Torque Converter.
- Lubricate the torque converter pilot hub with Multi-Purpose Grease.

NOTE: If the transmission is not positioned on the dowel pins, damage to the transmission may occur.
If the dowel pins were pulled out of the engine block during removal, install new dowel pins in the engine block.

NOTE: Secure the transmission to the transmission jack with a safety strap.NOTE: Make sure that the component is correctly located on the locating dowels.NOTE: Make sure that no part of the wiring harness is trapped.NOTE: Make sure that no components catch.
Support the transmission with a transmission jack. Use the General Equipment: Retaining Strap. Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack
- Position the transmission behind the engine and remove the special tool. Use Special Service Tool: 307-566 Retainer, Torque Converter.
- Align the index-mark made during removal.
- Install the RH and the LH transmission torque converter housing bolts.
Torque
: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)
- Install the transmission-to-engine bolts.
Torque
: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)
- Install the upper transmission-to-engine bolts.
Torque
: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)
- Install the transmission cooler-to-cooler bypass valve tubes and the bolt.
Torque
: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
- Connect the transmission fluid cooler-to-cooler bypass valve tubes to the cooler bypass valve.

NOTE: Only rotate the engine in a clockwise direction or engine damage will occur.NOTE: The torque converter nuts are accessed from the top of the vehicle.
Using a magnetic socket install the new torque converter nuts. Use the General Equipment: Magnetic Socket

: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)
- Install the torque converter nut access plug.
- Install the transmission support insulator, the bolts and the nuts.
Torque
: 1: 66 lb.ft (90 Nm) 2: 103 lb.ft (140 Nm)

NOTE: Make sure that a new component is installed.
Install the new inner halfshaft retaining circlip.

NOTE: If the transmission has been replaced or overhauled, the halfshaft seals do not need to be replaced.
If necessary, install a new RH halfshaft seal. Refer to: Halfshaft Seal RH .
- Insert the RH halfshaft until the halfshaft retaining clip is fully seated.

NOTE: Make sure that a new component is installed.
Insert the RH lower ball joint into the wheel knuckle and install a new bolt and nut.
Torque
: 38 lb.ft (52 Nm)

WARNING: Make sure that the alignment line is not twisted.
- Position back the RH front wheel speed sensor and install the bolt.
Torque
: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)
- Attach the RH wheel speed sensor retainer.
- Position back the RH front wheel speed sensor and install the bolt.

WARNING: Make sure that no load is placed on the brake hose.
Position the RH brake hose and install the bolt.
Torque
: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

NOTE: If the transmission has been replaced or overhauled, the halfshaft seals do not need to be replaced.
Install the LH halfshaft. Refer to: Front Halfshaft LH - 6-Speed Automatic Transmission - 6F15 .
- Install the LH inner splash shield and the retainers.
- Install the wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
- Install the transmission roll restrictor bracket bolts.
Torque
: 85 lb.ft (115 Nm)
- Install the transmission roll restrictor, bracket and the bolts.
Torque
: 85 lb.ft (115 Nm)
- Inspect the transmission fluid tube backing rings and seals for damage and install new backing rings or seals if necessary.
- Backing ring (7J324)

: Motorcraft® MERCON® ULV Automatic Transmission Fluid / XT-12-QULV (WSS-M2C949-A,) (MERCON® ULV)
- Install the cooler bypass valve-to-transmission tube and finger tighten the fitting.
- Install the transmission fluid warmer, bolts and the nut.
Torque
: Bolts: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm) Nut: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
- Connect the wiring harness to the transmission warmer bracket.
- Inspect the transmission fluid tube backing rings and seals for damage and install new backing rings or seals if necessary.

: Motorcraft® MERCON® ULV Automatic Transmission Fluid / XT-12-QULV (WSS-M2C949-A,) (MERCON® ULV)
- Install the transmission fluid cooler tubes and finger tighten the fitting.
- Tighten the transmission fluid cooler tube fittings and the bolts.
Torque
: Bolts: 97 lb.in (11 Nm) Fittings: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)
- Position back the transmission fluid heater coolant control valve and install the nuts.
Torque
: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
- Position back the wiring harnesses and connect the transmission main control connector.
- Position back the ground strap and install the bolt.
Torque
: 16 lb.ft (22 Nm)
- Install the starter motor. Refer to: Starter Motor .
- Install the catalytic converter. Refer to: Catalytic Converter .
- Attach the transmission vent tube to the coolant hose.
- Position back the selector lever cable and bracket, install the bolts. Connect the selector lever cable end to the manual control lever.
Torque
: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
- Install the battery support bracket and the nuts. Install the wiring harness push pin retainers.
Torque
: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
- Install the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .

- Install the air cleaner outlet pipe assembly, tighten the clamps and install the nuts. Connect the vacuum tube to the air outlet pipe. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

: 1: 97 lb.in (11 Nm) 2: 35 lb.in (4 Nm)
- Connect the fuel evaporative tube quick release coupling. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .
- Connect the PCV coupling. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .
- Connect the MAP sensor electrical connector and remove the air cleaner outlet pipe assembly.
- Install the air cleaner outlet pipe assembly, tighten the clamps and install the nuts. Connect the vacuum tube to the air outlet pipe. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
- Install the battery tray. Refer to: Battery Tray .
- Install the cowl panel. Refer to: Cowl Panel Grille .
- Adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to: Selector Lever Cable Adjustment - 6-Speed Automatic Transmission - 6F15 .
- Fill the transmission with transmission fluid. Refer to: Transmission Fluid Drain and Refill .
- After completing the repairs perform the Misfire Monitor Neutral Profile Correction procedure.
- If a new solenoid body is installed, the solenoid body strategy must be updated. Refer to: Transmission Strategy Download .
