Exhaust Manifold RH: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Disconnect the battery ground and positive cables. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
    • Detach the wiring harness retainer.

    • Remove and discard the nuts. Remove the strut tower cross brace.

  3. Remove the following items:

    1. Refer to: Cowl Panel Grille .
    2. Refer to: Battery Tray .
    3. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor Belt .

  4. Remove the fasteners and the cowl extension.

  5. Remove the fasteners and the battery heat shield.

    • Disconnect the CMP sensor and the HO2S electrical connectors, the wiring harness retainers and position the harness aside.

    • Remove the bolt and the CMP sensor.

  6. Remove the LH engine mount nut.

  7. Remove the RH engine mount nut.

  8. Remove the bolts and the underbody shield.

  9. Remove the bolts and the underbody shield.

  10. Remove the following items:

    1. Refer to: Catalytic Converter RH .
    2. Refer to: Starter Motor .

  11. Remove the bolts and disconnect the oil cooler hoses.

  12. NOTE: Do not position the legs of the Engine Support Bar on the fenders. Instead, the legs should be positioned on the body structure. Failure to follow these instructions may result in body damage.

    Install the special tools and raise the engine 50 mm (2 inch). Use Special Service Tool: 303-F072 Support Bar, Engine, 303-050 (T70P-6000) Lifting Bracket, Engine.

  13. Remove the nut and ground strap from the RH engine mount bracket stud bolt.

  14. Remove the nut and position the wiring harness aside.

  15. If equipped, remove the nuts and position the transmission cooler tubes aside.

  16. Remove the fasteners and the RH engine mount bracket.

  17. Detach the wiring harness retainers from the A/C compressor stud bolts.

  18. Remove the stud bolts and position the A/C compressor aside.

    • Remove the nuts and the RH exhaust manifold.

    • Discard the nuts.

  19. Remove and discard the gasket.

  20. Remove and discard the studs.
