Transmission Fluid Warmer: Installation

  1. Inspect and lubricate the backing rings and band seals.

    • Backing ring (7J324).

    • Band seal (7D285).

      Material: Motorcraft® MERCON® LV Automatic Transmission Fluid / XT-10-QLVC (WSS-M2C938-A) (MERCON® LV,)

  2. Install the bolts and the transmission fluid warmer.

  3. Install the transmission-to-warmer tube and connect the warmer-to-bypass valve tube. Install a new transmission fluid tube bolt and studbolts.

    Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

  4. NOTE: 3.5L TiVCT.

    Connect the coolant hose quick-connect coupling and the coolant hose to the transmission fluid warmer and position the clamp. Remove the tools. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp(s)

  5. NOTE: 2.7L GTDI.

    Connect the coolant hose quick-connect couplings to the transmission fluid warmer. Remove the tools. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp(s)

  6. Install the battery tray. Refer to: Battery Tray .
  7. Check the transmission fluid level and adjust as necessary. Refer to: Transmission Fluid Level Check .
