Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes - Vehicles With: Active Warm Up: Installation

NOTE: Perform the following six steps to install the rear tubes.
  1. Inspect and lubricate the backing rings and band seals

    1. Backing ring (7J324)
    2. Band seal (7D285)

  2. Calculate the correct torque wrench setting for the following torque. Refer to Torque Wrench Adapter Formula in the chart below. Install the transmission fluid cooler tubes and tighten the tube fittings.

    Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

  3. Install the LH splash shield and the bolts.

  4. Install a new transmission fluid cooler tube bolt.

    Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

  5. Install the transmission-to-warmer tube and a new transmission fluid tube bolt and studbolts.

    Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

  6. Install the battery tray. Refer to: Battery Tray .
    NOTE: Perform the following seven steps to install the front tubes.
  7. NOTE: 3.5L TiVCT.

    Install the transmission fluid cooler tubes, connect the transmission fluid cooler tubes to the transmission fluid cooler and position the clamps.

    1. Push the transmission fluid cooler tubes into position.
    2. Rotate the transmission fluid cooler tubes into place.

  8. NOTE: 3.5L TiVCT.

    Install the transmission fluid cooler tube bracket bolts.

    Torque: 53 lb.in (6 Nm)

  9. NOTE: 2.7L GTDI.

    Install the transmission fluid cooler tubes, connect the transmission fluid cooler tubes to the transmission fluid cooler and position the clamps.

    1. Push the transmission fluid cooler tubes into position.
    2. Rotate the transmission fluid cooler tubes into place.

  10. NOTE: 2.7L GTDI.

    Install the transmission fluid cooler tube bracket bolts.

    Torque: 53 lb.in (6 Nm)

  11. Install the active grille shutter. Refer to: Active Grille Shutter .
  12. Connect the transmission fluid cooler tube quick-connect couplings.

  13. Install the quick-connect coupling secondary latches.

    NOTE: Perform the following two steps to install any tube.
  14. Install the air cleaner. For 2.7L, Refer to: Air Cleaner . For 3.5L, Refer to: Air Cleaner .
  15. Check the transmission fluid level and adjust as necessary. Refer to: Transmission Fluid Level Check .
