Cooler Bypass Valve: Installation

  1. NOTE: Leaving the cooler bypass nuts loose will ease installation of the transmission fluid cooler tube fittings.

    Install the cooler bypass valve and the nuts.

    • Do not tighten the nuts at this time.

  2. NOTE: Leave the transmission fluid cooler tube fittings loose until after final tighten of the cooler bypass valve nuts.

    Install the transmission fluid cooler tube fittings.

    • Do not tighten the fittings at this time.

  3. Tighten the cooler bypass valve nuts.

    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  4. Calculate the correct torque wrench setting for the following torque. Refer to Torque Wrench Adapter Formula in the chart below. Tighten the transmission fluid cooler tube fittings.

    Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

  5. Install the LH splash shield and the bolts.

  6. Connect the transmission fluid cooler tube quick-connect couplings.

  7. Install the quick-connect coupling secondary latches.

  8. Install the air cleaner. For 2.7L, Refer to: Air Cleaner . For 3.5L, Refer to: Air Cleaner .
  9. Check the transmission fluid level and adjust as necessary. Refer to: Transmission Fluid Level Check .
