Side Curtain Airbag: Removal

WARNING: The following procedure prescribes critical repair steps required for correct restraint system operation during a crash. Follow all notes and steps carefully. Failure to follow step instructions may result in incorrect operation of the restraint system and increases the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Depower the SRS. Refer to: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering .
  2. Lower the headliner. Refer to: Headliner - Lowering .
    1. Disconnect the side curtain airbag electrical connector.
    2. Remove the side curtain airbag screws.

  3. Remove the side curtain airbag screws near the B-pillar.

  4. Remove the side curtain airbag screws at the A-pillar.

  5. Detach the pin-type retainers at the A-pillar.

  6. Slide the side curtain airbag upward and out from the A-pillar, disengaging the T-tab from the sheet metal.

  7. Feed the side curtain airbag hanger out from between the A-pillar and the A-pillar bracket.

  8. Disengage the retainers and position the side curtain airbag down.

  9. Remove the side curtain airbag.

    1. Remove the pin-type retainer.
    2. Disengage the T-tab from the sheet metal.
    3. Slide the side curtain airbag forward.
    4. Slide the side curtain airbag outward, disengaging the nut from the sheet metal and remove the side curtain airbag.
