Fuel System Pressure Check

Connect 

  1. Refer to: Gasoline and Gasoline-Ethanol Fuel Systems Health and Safety Precautions .
  2. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release  .
  3. Disconnect the battery. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .

    WARNING: Fuel may remain pressurized in some fuel lines after the Fuel System Pressure Release procedure. Wear safety gloves and a face shield when disconnecting pressure lines to avoid skin and eye contact. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
    WARNING: Do not smoke, carry lighted tobacco or have an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related component. Highly flammable mixtures may be present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.
    WARNING: Do not carry personal electronic devices such as cell phones, pagers or audio equipment of any type when working on or near any fuel-related component. Highly flammable mixtures may be present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.

    Always wrap the fuel line connection with a towel before disconnecting it. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling  .

  6. Install Special Service Tool: 310-D009 (D95L-7211-A) Fuel Pressure Test Kit.

    1. Torque

      : 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

    2. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling  .

  7. Connect the battery. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .

Check 

  1. Carry out a ignition ON engine OFF visual inspection for fuel leaks prior to completing the fuel system pressure test.
  2. Use Special Service Tool: 310-D009 (D95L-7211-A) Fuel Pressure Test Kit.

  4. After completing the fuel system pressure test, open the drain valve on the Fuel Pressure Test Kit and release any residual fuel into a suitable container prior to removing the tool.

Disconnect 

  1. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling  .
