Grease - High Temperature ESD-M1C220-A
  1. Lubricate the input shaft with a thin coating of grease.

    Material

  2. Install the transmission.

  3. Using the special tool and the help from an assistant, raise the powertrain. Use Special Service Tool: 303-1554 Engine Support Bar.

  4. Install the bell housing bolts. Tighten on both sides simultaneously.

    Torque

    : 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

  5. Remove the General Equipment: Wooden Block. Remove the General Equipment: Transmission Jack. Remove the General Equipment: Retaining Strap

  6. Use Special Service Tool: 303-1554 Engine Support Bar.

  7. Using the special tool, raise the powertrain. Use Special Service Tool: 303-1554 Engine Support Bar.

  8. Install the transmission support insulator bracket.

    Torque

    : 59 lb.ft (80 Nm)

  9. Raise the engine and transmission assembly to align the transmission support insulator.

  10. WARNING: Make sure that a new bolt is installed.

    Install the transmission support insulator and the bolt.

    Torque

    : 109 lb.ft (148 Nm)

  11. NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

    Install the clutch hydraulic tube in the slave cylinder.

  12. Remove Special Service Tool: 303-1554 Engine Support Bar.
  13. Install the bell housing bolts.

    Torque

    : 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

  15. Install the LH front halfshaft. Refer to: Front Halfshaft LH .
  16. Install the lower control arm shield and push pin.

  17. Connect the electrical connector.

  18. Position the harness back and connect the ECM.

  20. Install the LHF inner splash shield and brake air duct cooler tube.

  22. Position back the PTU cooler hoses and retainers.

  23. Install the catalytic converter bracket and retainers.

    1. Install the bracket to transmission retainers.

      Torque

      : 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

    2. Install the bracket to catalytic converter retainer.

      Torque

      : 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  24. Install the PTU. Refer to: Power Transfer Unit .
  25. If equipped. Connect the electrical connector.

  26. Position the transmission breather tube and retainer clip.

  27. Tighten the starter.

    Torque

    : 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

  28. Position back the wiring harness, install the retainer nuts and brackets

    Torque

    : 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

  29. Install the wiring bracket and install the nuts.

    Torque

    : 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  30. If equipped. Install the engine appearance cover.

  31. Install the ground strap and the bolt. Connect the electrical connector and the wiring retainer.

    Torque

    : 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  32. Install the bell housing bolts.

    Torque

    : 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

  33. Connect the gearshift cables.

  34. Adjust the gearshift cable. Refer to: Gearshift Cable Adjustment - 6-Speed Manual Transmission - MMT6 .
  35. Install the battery tray support bracket and the nuts. Connect the wiring retainers.

    Torque

    : 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

  36. Install the cooling fan and shroud. Refer to: Cooling Fan Motor and Shroud .
  37. Bleed the clutch hydraulic system. Refer to: Clutch System Bleeding - 6-Speed Manual Transmission - MMT6 .
  38. Install the battery tray. Refer to: Battery Tray .
  39. Check the transmission fluid level. Refer to: Transmission Fluid Level Check - 2.3L EcoBoost (257kW/350PS) - MI4  .
  40. If equipped. Install the underbody shield.

  41. After completing the repairs, perform the Misfire Monitor Neutral Profile Correction procedure. Use the General Equipment: Ford Diagnostic Equipment
