Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) Unit: Installation
- Install the VCT units.
- Install Special Service Tool: 303-1606 Locking Tool, Variable Camshaft Timing.

NOTE: Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.
Install the VCT units mounting bolt.
- Remove Special Service Tool: 303-1606 Locking Tool, Variable Camshaft Timing.
- Install timing belt in sequence shown.

WARNING: Take extra care when handling the compressed spring.
Remove the locking pin.

NOTE: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges, which make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove traces of sealant.
- Clean only the specified area with the specified material and a plastic scraping tool to remove traces of sealant. Use the General Equipment: Plastic Scraper
- Make sure that the surface is clean and free of foreign material.

Apply beads of silicone sealant that are 4 mm (0.157 in) and 6 mm (0.236 in) as shown in the graphic.

Apply beads of silicone sealant that are 4 mm (0.157 in) on the edge of the engine oil pan.

- Install the engine front cover, bolts and tighten in the sequence shown.

- Tighten the RH engine mount studs.

- Install the RH engine mount and the nuts.

- Install the RH engine mount bolts finger-tight.
- Install the RH engine mount and the nuts.
- Release the jack. Use the General Equipment: Trolley Jack. Use the General Equipment: Wooden Block
- Tighten the RH engine mount bracket bolts.

: 66 lb.ft (90 Nm)
- Install Special Service Tool: 303-1606 Locking Tool, Variable Camshaft Timing.
Torque
: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

- Turn until resistance is felt.
- Torque
: 133 lb.in (15 Nm)

NOTE: Use an open-ended wrench to hold the camshafts by the hexagon to prevent the camshafts from turning.
Tighten the VCT units bolt.

: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)
- Remove Special Service Tool: 303-1605 Alignment Tool, Camshaft.

NOTE: Use an open-ended wrench to hold the camshafts by the hexagon to prevent the camshafts from turning.
Tighten the VCT units bolt.

- Install the engine lifting bracket and the bolts.

- Position the coolant hose assembly, attach the retainers and install the bolts.

- Connect the throttle body electrical connector and attach the wiring harness retainer.
- Attach the wiring harness retainers.

- Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector.
- Attach the wiring harness retainer.
- Install the following items:
- Refer to: Generator - 1.0L EcoBoost (92kW/125PS) .
- Refer to: CATALYTIC CONVERTER .
- Refer to: Valve Cover .

WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
Remove the drain plug, drain engine oil and install drain plug. Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment

: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

Remove and discard the engine oil filter. Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment

NOTE: Lubricate the engine oil filter seal with clean engine oil.
Install a new engine oil filter.

- Fill the engine with clean engine oil. Refer to: Specifications .

- Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
- After completing the repairs, perform the Misfire Monitor Neutral Profile Correction procedure using a diagnostic scan tool.
