Pinpoint Test AK : The Chime Always Sounds
- AK1 CHECK THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) FOR MESSAGE CENTER MESSAGES
- Ignition ON.
- Check the IPC and message center for illuminated warning indicator or message center displays.
Does the IPC have any message center messages displayed?
Yes REFER to Symptom Chart: IPC or Symptom Chart: Message Center . No GO to AK2 - AK2 CHECK THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING OPERATION
- Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
- Close all doors.
- Wait one minute.
- Observe the exterior lights.
Are the headlamps and parking lamps off?
Yes GO to AK3 No REFER to: Headlamps . Refer to: Parking, Rear and License Plate Lamps . - AK3 CHECK THE INTERIOR LIGHTING OPERATION
- Open and close the driver door.
- Observe the interior lights.
Do the interior lights operate correctly from the driver door?
Yes GO to AK4 No REFER to: Interior Lighting . - AK4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) present?
Yes For DTC B10F1:13, GO to AK5. For all other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), REFER to: Body Control Module (BCM) . No GO to AK7 - AK5 CHECK THE KEY-IN-IGNITION INPUT CIRCUIT FOR VOLTAGE AT THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE)
- Ignition OFF.
- Remove the key from the ignition cylinder.
- Disconnect BCM C2280C .
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2280C-46 Ground
Is any voltage present?
Yes GO to AK6 No GO to AK7 - AK6 CHECK KEY-IN-IGNITION INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE AT THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH DISCONNECTED
- Disconnect Ignition Switch C250 .
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2280C-46 Ground
Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the circuit. No INSTALL a new ignition switch. Refer to: Ignition Switch . - AK7 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, Refer to BCM Hardware Testing . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
