HVAC Flash Codes
- FLASH CODE 3000: DASH/FLOOR DOOR OUT OF RANGE HI (Check for Broken Door Shaft or Stripped actuator gear)
- FLASH CODE 3001: DEFROST DOOR OUT OF RANGE HI (Check for Broken Door Shaft or Stripped actuator gear)
- FLASH CODE 3002: TEMPERATURE DOOR OUT OF RANGE HI (Check for Broken Door Shaft or Stripped actuator gear)
- FLASH CODE 3004: DASH/FLOOR DOOR OUT OF RANGE LO (Check for Door binding or obstruction)
- FLASH CODE 3010: DEFROST DOOR OUT OF RANGE LO (Check for Door binding or obstruction)
- FLASH CODE 3011: TEMPERATURE DOOR OUT OF RANGE LO (Check for Door binding or obstruction. Also when Defrost and Temperature Actuator connectors are swapped.)

- NOTE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may cause damage to the connector.
- I1 CHECK THE HVAC (HEATING, VENTILATION AND AIR CONDITIONING) CONTROL MODULE FOR FLASH CODESNOTE: Diagnostic flash codes are 4 digit codes communicated via a blinking LED located near the connectors on the HVAC control module.
- Ignition OFF. Wait 10 seconds.
- Perform the HVAC control module manual reset: Press and Hold the A/C button while turning the ignition to the ON position. Observe the HVAC control module LED for Flash codes.
Is Flash Code 3000, 3001, 3002, 3004, 3010, 3011, 3013, 3014, 3020, 3022, 3023, 3024, 3032, 3033 or 3034 present?
Yes For Flash Codes 3000, 3001, 3002, 3004, 3010, 3011, 3013, 3014, 3020, 3022, 3023 or 3024 GO to I2 For Flash Codes 3032, 3033 or 3034 GO to I4 No DIAGNOSE any other Flash Codes or Symptoms. REFER to HVAC Control Module Diagnostic Flash Codes or Symptom Charts . - I2 CHECK THE DEFROST VENT DOOR ACTUATOR, FOOTWELL VENT/REGISTER DOOR ACTUATOR, AND TEMPERATURE DOOR ACTUATOR - FLASH CODES 3000, 3001, 3002, 3004, 3010, 3011, 3013, 3014, 3020, 3022, 3023, 3024
- For Flash Codes 3000, 3001, 3002, 3004, 3010, 3011, 3013, 3014, 3020, 3022, 3023 or 3024, the actuator must be removed to inspect the actuator for stripped gears, and the door for obstructions, binding or broken shaft. REFER to: Defrost Vent Door Actuator . REFER to: Footwell Vent/Register Door Actuator or REFER to: Temperature Door Actuator .
- Inspect the actuator for stripped gears and inspect for a binding or damaged linkage or door.
Are any of the actuator or door conditions found?
Yes REPAIR as necessary. INSTALL a new defrost vent door actuator, footwell vent/register door actuator or temperature door actuator as necessary. REFER to: Defrost Vent Door Actuator . REFER to: Footwell Vent/Register Door Actuator or REFER to: Temperature Door Actuator . TEST the system for normal operation. If binding or stalling concern is still present, GO to I3 No DIAGNOSE any other Flash Codes or Symptoms. REFER to HVAC Control Module Diagnostic Flash Codes or Symptom Charts . - I3 PERFORM THE ACTUATOR CYCLE TESTNOTE: This test can be used to diagnose the Defrost, Footwell and Temperature actuators and the Climate Control Housing Case binding/mounting problems. If actuator doors are stalling because one of these components has been severely distorted in its current mount configuration, the HVAC System can be put in the Actuator Test Cycle mode. When changing the mounting configuration, such as loosening or shimming a mount fastener location, you must wait a minimum of 27 seconds to see if all Door Out of Range Low codes clear.
- With the actuators installed in the case and electrically connected, perform the Actuator Cycle test: Press and Hold the Auto button while turning the ignition to the ON position. This will start the actuator cycle test. All actuators will be driven to their Counter Clock Wise (CCW) and Clock Wise (CW) mechanical stops. This cycle, which takes approximately 18 seconds, will be repeated until the ignition is turned off.
- To correct for door binding/stalling conditions, attempt loosening or shimming a climate control housing mount fastener location. Wait a minimum of 27 seconds to see if the binding or stalling Flash Codes clear.
Is Flash Code 3004, 3010, 3011, 3013, 3014, 3020, 3022, 3023 or 3024 present?
Yes REPAIR as necessary. INSTALL a new door actuator as necessary. REFER to: Defrost Vent Door Actuator . REFER to: Footwell Vent/Register Door Actuator or REFER to: Temperature Door Actuator . No DIAGNOSE any other Flash Codes or Symptoms. REFER to HVAC Control Module Diagnostic Flash Codes or Symptom Charts . - I4 CHECK THE DEFROST VENT DOOR ACTUATOR, FOOTWELL VENT/REGISTER DOOR ACTUATOR, AND TEMPERATURE DOOR ACTUATOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE - FLASH CODES 3032, 3033, 3034NOTE: Check connectors C2091, C232, C236 and C228D for disconnect or damage.
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect temperature door actuator C2091.
- Disconnect defrost vent door actuator C232.
- Disconnect footwell vent/register door actuator C236.
- Disconnect HVAC control module C228D.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:

Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the circuit. No GO to I5 - I5 CHECK THE DEFROST VENT DOOR ACTUATOR, FOOTWELL VENT/REGISTER DOOR ACTUATOR, AND TEMPERATURE DOOR ACTUATOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND - FLASH CODES 3032, 3033, 3034

- I8 CHECK THE DEFROST VENT DOOR ACTUATOR, FOOTWELL VENT/REGISTER DOOR ACTUATOR, AND TEMPERATURE DOOR ACTUATOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TOGETHER - FLASH CODES 3032, 3033, 3034
- Measure:

Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes INSTALL a new defrost vent door actuator, footwell vent/register door actuator or temperature door actuator as necessary. REFER to: Defrost Vent Door Actuator . REFER to: Footwell Vent/Register Door Actuator or REFER to: Temperature Door Actuator . TEST the system for normal operation. If the concern is still present, GO to I9 No REPAIR the affected circuits. - Measure:
- I9 CHECK FOR CORRECT HVAC (HEATING, VENTILATION AND AIR CONDITIONING) CONTROL MODULE OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all HVAC control module electrical connectors (if not previously disconnected).
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminal - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals or pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Connect all HVAC control module electrical connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new HVAC control module. Refer to Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Control Module . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
