NOTE: Gearshift cables must not be kinked or bent.

Install gearshift cable mounting bracket.

Install the nuts.
Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  Install the exhaust heat shield and nuts.
- 2.
  
  Install the exhaust isolator.
- 3.
  
  Install the center support brace and nuts.
  Torque: 18 lb.ft (24 Nm)

Install the new muffler gasket.

Install the muffler mounting nuts.
Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

- Slide the lock sleeve and install the gearshift cables in the bracket.
- Connect the gearshift cable ends to the ball studs of the transmission selector mechanism.

Install the gearshift housing access cover.

Attach the gearshift cables to the clip.

9.
- Install the gearshift cables in the gearshift lever.
- Connect the gearshift cable ends to the gearshift lever ball studs.

Install the floor console. Refer to: Floor Console .

Connect the gearshift cables to the bracket.

Install the air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe .

Adjust the gearshift cables. Refer to: Gearshift Cable Adjustment - 5-Speed Manual Transmission - B5/IB5 .
