Symptom Chart: Instrument Panel and Interior Switches Illumination

All illumination (networked and non-networked sources) does not dim or increase brightness	Refer to Pinpoint Test	GO to Pinpoint Test G
All networked illumination is inoperative (non-networked illumination functions correctly)	Network communication concern BCM	Using a scan tool, PERFORM a network test. If all modules pass the network test, INSTALL a new BCM. If all modules do not pass the network test, REFER to: MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
The start/stop switch illumination is inoperative or always on - vehicles with Intelligent Access (IA)	Refer to Pinpoint Test	GO to Pinpoint Test F
The LH front window control switch illumination is inoperative or always on (one-touch up and one-touch down window)	Window control switch	VERIFY the operation of the power windows from the LH front window control switch. If the power windows operate correctly from the LH front window control switch, INSTALL a new window control switch.REFER to: Front Door Window Control Switch . If the power windows do not operate correctly from the LH front window control switch, REFER to: WINDOWS AND GLASS - GLASS, FRAMES AND MECHANISMS .
The RH front, RH rear or LH rear window control switch illumination is inoperative or always on	Refer to Pinpoint Test	GO to Pinpoint Test E
All non-networked illumination is inoperative (networked illumination functions correctly)	Refer to Pinpoint Test	GO to Pinpoint Test A
One or more non-networked illumination is inoperative	Refer to Pinpoint Test	GO to Pinpoint Test D
A single non-networked illuminated switch or component is always on	Illuminated switch or component	INSTALL a new illuminated switch or component.
The steering wheel switch(es) illumination is inoperative	Refer to Pinpoint Test	GO to Pinpoint Test C
All non-networked illumination is always on (networked illumination functions correctly)	Refer to Pinpoint Test	GO to Pinpoint Test B
The IPC illumination is inoperative/does not dim	Network communication concern IPC	PERFORM a network test. If the scan tool communicates with the IPC, If the scan tool does not communicate with the IPC, REFER to: MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
The FCIM illumination is inoperative/does not dim (with 8-inch (203 mm) touchscreen only)	FCIM	VERIFY that all FCIM controls function correctly. If all the FCIM controls operate correctly, INSTALL a new FCIM.REFER to:INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION - VEHICLES WITH: AM FM CD SYNC TOUCHSCREEN DISPLAY . If the FCIM controls do not function correctly, REFER to INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION - VEHICLES WITH: AM FM CD SYNC .
The CD slot illumination is inoperative (with 8-inch [203 mm] touchscreen only)	Refer to Pinpoint Test	GO to Pinpoint Test H
The FDIM illumination is inoperative/does not dim	APIM FDIM	VERIFY the audio system can be operated from the FDIM. If the audio system responds normally to FDIM inputs, Click here to access Guided Routine (APIM). If the FDIM illumination still does not function correctly after the repair, INSTALL a new FDIM.REFER to: Front Display Interface Module (FDIM) (415-00 Information and Entertainment System - General Information - Vehicles With: AM/FM/CD/SYNC/Touchscreen Display). If the audio system does not operate correctly from the FDIM inputs, REFER to: INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION - VEHICLES WITH: AM FM CD SYNC TOUCHSCREEN DISPLAY .
The FCDIM illumination is inoperative/does not dim (with 4.2-inch display)	Network communication concern FCDIM	PERFORM a network test. If the scan tool communicates with the FCDIM, INSTALL a new FCDIM.REFER to: Front Control/Display Interface Module (FCDIM) . If the scan tool does not communicate with the FCDIM, REFER to:MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
The FCIM illumination, including the CD slot illumination, is inoperative/does not dim (with 4.2-inch display)	FCIM	VERIFY that all FCIM controls function correctly. The HVAC (with Dual Automatic Temperature Control [DATC]) illumination is inoperative/does not dim	Network communication concern HVAC	PERFORM a network test.
