Pinpoint Test F : The Active Park Assist System Does Not Operate When The Active Park Assist Switch Is Pressed
- F1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
- Ignition ON.
- Apply the brakes.
- Select DRIVE.
- While pressing the active park assist switch, monitor the IPC message center.
Does the message center display "Active park searching"?
Yes The system is operating correctly at this time. PRESS and RELEASE the active park assist switch several times to verify there is no intermittent condition with the switch. If an intermittent condition occurs, GO to F2 No GO to F2 - F2 CHECK THE CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND PARKING AID MODULE (PAM) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the Parking Aid Module (PAM) self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) present?
Yes REFER to the Parking Aid Module (PAM) DTC chart.REFER to: Parking Aid No GO to F3 - F3 CHECK THE ACTIVE PARK ASSIST SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect Active Park Assist Switch.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2035-12 Ground
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to F4 No REPAIR the circuit. - F4 CHECK THE ACTIVE PARK ASSIST SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect Parking Aid Module (PAM) C4014A.
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to F5 No REPAIR the circuit. - F5 CHECK THE PARKING AID MODULE (PAM) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) WITH THE ACTIVE PARK ASSIST SWITCH SIGNAL AND GROUND CIRCUITS JUMPERED
- Connect Parking Aid Module (PAM) C4014A.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the Parking Aid Module (PAM) self-test.
Is DTC B129E:73 present?
Yes REMOVE the fused jumper wire. INSTALL a new active park assist switch.REFER to: Active Park Assist Switch . No REMOVE the fused jumper wire. GO to F6 - F6 CHECK FOR CORRECT PARKING AID MODULE (PAM) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all Parking Aid Module (PAM) connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the Parking Aid Module (PAM) connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new Parking Aid Module (PAM).REFER to: Parking Assist Control Module (PAM) . No The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
