Pinpoint Test C : B129C:96, B129D:96
- C1 CHECK THE CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND PARKING AID MODULE (PAM) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the Parking Aid Module (PAM) self-test.
Are Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) other than B129C:96, B129D:96 present?
Yes DIAGNOSE other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) first. REFER to the Parking Aid Module (PAM) DTC Chart in this section. No GO to C2 - C2 CHECK THE ACTIVE PARK ASSIST SENSOR OPERATIONNOTE: Make sure the area around the vehicle is clear of anything that can be detected by the active park assist system.
- Clean the front bumper and sensors with high-pressure water.
- Carry out the azimuth system check. REFER to: Azimuth System Check .
- Ignition ON.
- Apply the parking brake.
- Select REVERSE.
- Monitor and record the Parking Aid Module (PAM) active park assist sensor distance PIDs (FSL_DIST and FSR_DIST) while moving a test object into and out of the azimuth field for each of the sensors.
Are the PID distances correct according to the general specifications?
Yes The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a dirty or blocked parking aid sensor. No GO to C3 - C3 INSTALL A KNOWN GOOD SENSOR
- Select PARK.
- Ignition OFF.
- Install a known good sensor for the suspect active park assist sensor.
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and repeat the self-test. Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes GO to C4 No INSTALL a new active park assist sensor.REFER to: Front Active Park Assist Sensors . - C4 CHECK FOR CORRECT PARKING AID MODULE (PAM) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all Parking Aid Module (PAM) connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the Parking Aid Module (PAM) connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new Parking Aid Module (PAM).REFER to: Parking Assist Control Module (PAM) . No The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
