Pinpoint Test S : The Rear Video Is Inoperative
- S1 CHECK AND CLEAN THE REAR VIDEO CAMERA LENS
- Clean and make sure the rear video camera lens is clear of any debris.
- Test the video camera system and verify the video camera image is displayed on the FDIM.
Is the video camera concern still present?
Yes GO to S2 No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern was caused by a dirty video camera lens. - S2 CHECK THE REVERSING LAMPS OPERATION
- Check the operation of the reversing lamps.
Do the reversing lamps operate correctly?
Yes GO to S3 No DIAGNOSE the reversing lamps.REFER to: Reversing Lamps . - S3 PERFORM A NETWORK TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform a network test.
Do all modules pass the network test?
Yes GO to S4 No REFER to: Communications Network . - S4 CHECK THE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) retrieved?
Yes REFER to the BCM DTC chart in this section. No If the vehicle was built on or before November 17, 2013, GO to S5If the vehicle was built on or after November 04, 2013, GO to S6 - S5 CHECK THE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE IPMB (IMAGE PROCESSING MODULE B) SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the IPMB self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) retrieved?
Yes For DTC B115E:08, GO to S9
For all other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), REFER to the IPMB DTC chart in this section.No GO to S6 - S6 CHECK THE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) retrieved?
Yes REFER to: Instrumentation, Message Center and Warning Chimes . No GO to S7 - S7 CHECK FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE ACCESSORY PROTOCOL INTERFACE MODULE (APIM) SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the APIM self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) retrieved?
Yes For DTC C1001:01, GO to S9For all other APIM Diagnostic Trouble Codes, REFER to: Information and Entertainment System . No GO to S8 - S8 CHECK THE IMAGE DISPLAY
- Observe the FDIM while placing the vehicle in reverse.
- Wait 30 seconds.
Does the FDIM switch to video camera mode and display "Rear Video Camera is Unavailable Please Contact Your Dealership"?
Yes The display is functional. There is no signal from the video camera. GO to S9 No DIAGNOSE the FDIM.REFER to: Information and Entertainment System . - S9 CHECK THE SUPPLY VOLTAGE TO THE VIDEO CAMERA
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Video Camera.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C4357-1 Ground
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes GO to S12 No If the vehicle was built on or after November 04, 2013, VERIFY that RJB fuse 31 (5A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. If not OK, REFER to the Wiring Diagrams Manual to identify the possible causes of the circuit short.If the vehicle was built on or before November 17, 2013, GO to S10 - S10 CHECK THE VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT TO THE VIDEO CAMERA FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Image Processing Module - B (IPM-B)
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C4402-8 C4357-1
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to S11 No REPAIR the circuit. - S11 CHECK THE VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT TO THE VIDEO CAMERA FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C4357-1 Ground
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to S25 No REPAIR the affected circuit. - Measure:
- S12 CHECK THE GROUND CIRCUIT AT THE VIDEO CAMERA
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes GO to S14 No For vehicles built on or after November 04, 2013, REPAIR the circuit.For vehicles built on or before November 17, 2013, GO to S13 - S13 CHECK THE GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN BETWEEN THE VIDEO CAMERA AND THE IPMB (IMAGE PROCESSING MODULE B)
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect IPMB C4402.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C4402-5 C4357-5
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to S25 No REPAIR the circuit. - S14 CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA VIDEO SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect APIM C2383.
- Ignition ON.
Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the circuit in question. No GO to S15 - S15 CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to S16 No REPAIR the circuit in question. - S16 CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA VIDEO SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VIDEO SHIELD
Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to S17 No REPAIR the circuit in question. - S17 CHECK THE VIDEO SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TOGETHER
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to S18 No REPAIR the circuits. - S18 CHECK VIDEO SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes REMOVE the fused jumper wire. GO to S20 No REMOVE the fused jumper wire. GO to S19 - S19 CHECK VIDEO (+) SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C4357-4 C2383-14
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes REPAIR the video (-) circuit. No REPAIR the video (+) circuit. - Measure:
- S20 CHECK THE LOCAL INTERCONNECT NETWORK (LIN) CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect IPMB C4402 (vehicles built on or before November 17, 2013).
- Disconnect BCM (vehicles built on or after November 04, 2013) C2280B .
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C4357-2 Ground
Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the circuit. No If the vehicle was built on or before November 17, 2013, GO to S21If the vehicle was built on or after November 04, 2013, GO to S22 - S21 CHECK THE LOCAL INTERCONNECT NETWORK (LIN) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN BETWEEN THE CAMERA AND THE IPMB (IMAGE PROCESSING MODULE B)
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C4357-2 C4402-6
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to S23 No REPAIR the circuit. - S22 CHECK THE LOCAL INTERCONNECT NETWORK (LIN) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN BETWEEN THE CAMERA AND THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE)
- Ignition OFF.
Is resistance less than 3 ohms ?
Yes GO to S23 No REPAIR the circuit. - S23 CHECK THE LOCAL INTERCONNECT NETWORK (LIN) CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C4357-2 Ground
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to S24 No REPAIR the circuit. - Measure:
- S24 CHECK FOR CORRECT VIDEO CAMERA OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect the video camera connector.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the video camera connector. Make sure it seats correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new video camera.REFER to: Parking Aid Camera .If the concern is still present after camera replacement, for vehicles built on or before November 17, 2013, GO to S25 For vehicles built on or after November 04, 2013, GO to S26 No The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues. - S25 CHECK FOR CORRECT IMAGE PROCESSING MODULE - B (IPM-B) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect the Image Processing Module - B (IPM-B) connector.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the Image Processing Module - B (IPM-B) connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new Image Processing Module - B (IPM-B).REFER to: Image Processing Module B (IPMB). No The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues. - S26 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect the BCM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM.REFER to: Body Control Module (BCM) . No The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
