Pinpoint Test AJ : The Chime Always Sounds
- AJ1 CHECK THE IPC WARNING INDICATORS AND MESSAGE CENTER
- Check the IPC and message center for illuminated warning indicator or message center displays.
Does the IPC have any indicators illuminated or message center messages/message center indicators displayed?
Yes REFER to GO to Symptom Chart - IPC or GO to SYMPTOM CHART - Information And Message Center in this article. No GO to AJ2. - AJ2 CHECK THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING OPERATION
- Close all doors.
- Wait one minute.
- Observe the exterior lights.
Are the headlamps and parking lamps off?
Yes GO to AJ3. No REFER to Exterior Lighting . - AJ3 CHECK THE INTERIOR LIGHTING OPERATION
- Close and close the driver door.
- Observe the interior lights.
Do the interior lights operate correctly from the driver door?
Yes GO to AJ4. No REFER to Interior Lighting . - AJ4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE BCM SELF-TEST
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
Are any DTCs present?
Yes For DTC B10F1:14, GO to AJ5. For all other DTCs, REFER to the BCM DTC Chart in Multifunction Electronic Modules . No GO to AJ5. - AJ5 CHECK THE BCM INPUT PIDs FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH
- Using a scan tool, view the BCM PIDs.
- Select and monitor the BCM ignition switch (IGN_ACC/RUN), (IGN_RUN/STRT) and (IGN_SW_STATE) PIDs while cycling the ignition switch through the ACC, OFF, RUN and START states.
Do the BCM PIDs match the ignition switch position?
Yes GO to AJ6. No REFER to Steering Column Switches to diagnose the ignition switch outputs to the BCM. - AJ6 CHECK THE KEY-IN-IGNITION INPUT CIRCUIT FOR VOLTAGE AT THE BCM
- Ignition OFF.
- Remove the key from the ignition cylinder.
- Disconnect: BCM C2280B .
- Measure the voltage
between:
Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C2280B-34 CDC30 (BU) - Ground
Is any voltage present?
Yes GO to AJ7. No GO to AJ8. - AJ7 CHECK THE KEY-IN-IGNITION INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE AT THE BCM WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH DISCONNECTED
- Disconnect: Ignition Switch.
- Measure the voltage
between:
Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C2280B-34 CDC30 (BU) - Ground
Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the circuit. No INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to Steering Column Switches . - AJ8 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION
- Disconnect and inspect all the BCM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect all the BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
