Pinpoint Test BB: The Hill Start Assist Chime Is Inoperative

• Ignition OFF.
• Ignition ON.
• Monitor the safety belt warning chime when the ignition switch is transitioned from OFF to RUN for 6 seconds.

Does the safety belt warning chime operate for approximately 6 seconds? 

1. Yes  : GO to BB2 
2. No  : GO to PINPOINT TEST BJ 

• Verify that the hill start assist function operates correctly.

Does the hill start assist function operate correctly? 

1. Yes  : GO to BB3 
2. No  : REFER to: ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) AND STABILITY CONTROL .

• Check for recorded IPC  Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the continuous self-test.

Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

1. Yes  : For DTC  U0121:00, GO to PINPOINT TEST AE 

   For DTC  U0140:00, GO to PINPOINT TEST AF 

   For all other DTC  , REFER to DTC CHART: IPC  in this service information.

2. No  : GO to BB4 

• Using a scan tool, perform the ABS  module self-test.

Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

1. Yes  : REFER to: ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) AND STABILITY CONTROL .
2. No  : GO to BB5 

• Check for recorded BCM  Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the self-test.

Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

1. Yes  : REFER to: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .
2. No  : INSTALL a new Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU).

   REFER to: HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) .
