Pinpoint Test AE: U0121:00

  1. AE1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Verify there is an observable symptom present.

    Is an observable symptom present? 

    1. Yes  : GO to AE2 
    2. No  : The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC  may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  2. AE2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a scan tool, perform a network test.

    Does the ABS module pass the network test? 

    1. Yes  : GO to AE3 
    2. No  : REFER to: COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
  3. AE3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST 
    • Using a scan tool, perform the BCM  self-test.

    Is DTC U0121:00 recorded? 

    1. Yes  : REFER to: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .
    2. No  : GO to AE4 
  4. AE4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST 
    • Using a scan tool, perform the IPC  self-test.

    Is DTC U3006:16 or DTC U3006:17 recorded? 

    1. Yes  : For DTC  U3006:16, GO to PINPOINT TEST AM 

      For DTC  U3006:17, GO to PINPOINT TEST AN 

    2. No  : GO to AE4 
  5. AE5 RECHECK THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) 
    NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC  being set, the module configuration can be incorrectly set during the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) or the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) may not have been carried out.
    • Clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
    • Wait 10 seconds.
    • Using a scan tool, perform the IPC  self-test.

    Is DTC U0121:00 still present? 

    1. Yes  : INSTALL a new ABS  module (part of the HCU  ).

      REFER to: HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) .

      CLEAR the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). REPEAT the self-test. If DTC  U0121:00 is still present, INSTALL a new IPC  .

      REFER to: INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .

    2. No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC  may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition. CLEAR the DTC  .
