Pinpoint Test Am: The Safety Belt Warning Chime Or The Belt-Minder® Feature Is Inoperative

• Ignition ON.
• Operate the turn signals.

Does the turn signal (tick-tock tone) chime sound? 

• Yes  : GO to AM2 
• No  : GO to PINPOINT TEST A 

• Verify the speedometer operates.

Does the speedometer operate? 

• Yes  : GO to AM3 
• No  : GO to PINPOINT TEST F 

• Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC  self-test.

Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

• Yes  : REFER to DTC CHART: IPC .
• No  : GO to AM4 

• Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the RCM  self-test.

Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

• Yes  : REFER to: AIRBAG SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) .
• No  : GO to AM5 

• Using a diagnostic scan tool, view the RCM  Parameter Identifications (PIDs).
• Monitor the driver safety belt buckle (SBELT_D_ST) PID  while buckling and unbuckling the driver safety belt.

Does the PID display BUCKLED with the safety belt buckled and UNBUCKLED with the safety belt unbuckled? 

• Yes  : GO to AM6 
• No  : INSTALL a new safety belt buckle.

  REFER to: FRONT SAFETY BELT BUCKLE .

• Verify the Belt-Minder® is activated or configured on for the seating position in question. To configure without a scan tool,

  REFER to: SAFETY BELT MINDER DEACTIVATING/ACTIVATING  .

Is the Belt-Minder® activated for the seating position in question? 

• Yes  : If the Belt-Minder® is always on above with the safety belt unfastened, the system is operating normally.

  If the Belt-Minder® is always on with the safety belt fastened or never on with the safety belt unfastened above 5 km/h (3 mph), INSTALL a new IPC  .

  REFER to: INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC)  .

• No  : ACTIVATE the Belt-Minder® for the seating position in question.

  REFER to: SAFETY BELT MINDER DEACTIVATING/ACTIVATING  .
