Pinpoint Test F: The Speedometer Is Inoperative

F1 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
- Yes : REFER to DTC CHART: IPC .
- No : GO to F2
F2 PERFORM THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) KOEO (KEY ON, ENGINE OFF) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PCM KOEO self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
- Yes : Refer to ENGINE CONTROLS - INTRODUCTION (EXCEPT DIESEL & HYBRID) (SECTION 0) .
- No : GO to F3
F3 PERFORM THE SPEEDOMETER ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, view the IPC Parameter Identifications (PIDs).
- Select the IPC speedometer (SPDOMETER) active command.
- Command the speedometer on and off while monitoring the speedometer.
Does the speedometer begin at 0 km/h (0 mph), move to 209 km/h (130 mph) and return to 0 km/h (0 mph)?
- Yes : INSTALL a new PCM . For 1.6L TiVCT engine,
  REFER to: POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) .
  
  For 1.6L GTDI engine, REFER to: POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) .
- No : INSTALL a new IPC .
  REFER to: INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
