Pinpoint Test S: The Mil (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) Is Never Or Always On

S1: RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Are any DTC recorded?
1. Yes: For DTC U0100:00, GO to Pinpoint Test AC
  For DTC U0140:00, GO to Pinpoint Test AF
  
  For all other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), REFER to DTC Chart: IPC .
2. No: GO to S2
S2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) KOEO (KEY ON, ENGINE OFF) SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the PCM KOEO self-test.
Are any PCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
1. Yes: INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE MODELS
2. No: GO to S3
S3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
1. Yes: REFER to: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .
2. No: GO to S4
S4 CHECK THE MIL (MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP) USING THE DEALER TEST MODE
- Ignition OFF.
- Enter the Dealer Test Mode. Enter the Dealer Test Mode.
  REFER to: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) - System Operation and Component Description .
- Scroll to LED test.
- Monitor the MIL indicator.
Does the MIL illuminate?
1. Yes: INSTALL a new PCM.
  REFER to: POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) .
  
  TEST the system for normal operation. If the MIL remains on, INSTALL a new IPC.
  
  REFER to: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
2. No: INSTALL a new IPC.
  REFER to: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
