Removal and Installation

  1. Drain the powertrain secondary cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding .
  2. Remove the air cleaner. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING .
  3. Remove the A/C condenser. For additional information, refer to CLIMATE CONTROL .
  4. Release the clamp and disconnect the degas bottle-to-radiator hose from the radiator.
  5. NOTE: The quick connect coupling illustrated is to show the spring clip release location only. The quick connect coupling on the hose may differ.

  6. Pull the coolant pump-to-radiator T-connection spring clip up until the end of the clip is in the detent on the quick connect coupling. Disconnect the coolant pump-to-radiator T-connection from radiator.
    • To install, push the spring clip in place and connect the coolant pump-to-radiator T-connection quick connect coupling, making sure the coupling is secure.
  7. Release the clamp and disconnect the radiator-to-EGR cooler hose from the radiator.
  8. Release the clamp and disconnect the radiator-to-transmission fluid cooler hose from the radiator.
  9. Detach the 2 lower LH air deflector-to-radiator pushpins.

  10. Detach the lower RH air deflector-to-radiator pushpin.

  11. Release the clamp and disconnect the radiator-to-Charge Air Cooler (CAC) and fuel cooler hose from the radiator.
  12. Remove the 4 bolts and with the help of an assistant the radiator.
    • To install, tighten to 11 Nm (97 lb-in).
  13. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  14. NOTE: Evaluate the cooling system condition before filling the cooling system. Failure to follow these instructions can damage the cooling system.
  15. Evaluate the cooling system condition. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Condition Evaluation .
  16. Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system. For additional information, refer to CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION AND DIAGNOSTICS .
