Pinpoint Test AU: DTC U0140:00

  1. AU1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Verify that there is an observable symptom present.
    • Is an observable symptom present? 
      1. Yes  : GO to AU2.
      2. No  : The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  2. AU2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK 
    • Connect the scan tool.
    • Using a scan tool, carry out the Network Test.
    • Does the BCM pass the Network Test? 
      1. Yes  : GO to AU3.
      2. No  : REFER to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
  3. AU3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE ABS MODULE AND BCM SELF-TESTS 
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self Test - ABS Module.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self Test - BCM.
    • Is DTC B11E8:16 (U3003:16) or DTC B11E8:16 (U3003:17) recorded? 
      1. Yes  : For ABS module DTC B11E8:16, GO to Pinpoint Test AJ 

        For ABS module DTC B11E8:17, GO to Pinpoint Test AK .

        For BCM DTCs, REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules - Diagnosis & Testing .

      2. No  : GO to AU4.
  4. AU4 RECHECK THE ABS MODULE DTCs 
    • Using a scan tool, clear the ABS module DTCs.
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Wait 10 seconds.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self Test - ABS Module.
    • Is DTC U0140:00 still present? 
      1. Yes  : GO to AU5.
      2. No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  5. AU5 CHECK FOR DTC U0140:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES 
    • Using a scan tool, clear all CMDTCs.
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Wait 10 seconds.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self Test - All CMDTCs.
    • Is DTC U0140:00 set in more than one module? 
      1. Yes  : INSTALL a BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the ABS module self-test.
      2. No  : INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module . TEST the system for normal operation.
