Pinpoint Test M : U3000:54

  1. M1 CHECK FOR OTHER EPB (ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE) MODULE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the EPB module self-test.

    • Retrieve and record all EPB module Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    Is U3000:54 the only DTC present in the EPB module? 

    Yes  GO to  M2
    No  DIAGNOSE all other EPB module Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) before diagnosing U3000:54. GO to DTC Chart: Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) Module .

  2. M2 CONFIGURE THE EPB (ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE) MODULE

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using the parking brake switch, apply the parking brakes.

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using the parking brake switch, release the parking brakes.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, CLEAR all EPB module Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the Park Brake Configuration routine.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, CLEAR all EPB module Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the EPB module self-test.

    Does DTC U3000:54 return? 

    Yes  GO to  M3
    No  The EPB module has been successfully configured. The repair is complete.

  3. M3 VERIFY ALL WIRING CONNECTIONS

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect EPB module C3675 .

    • Disconnect all in-line electrical connectors between the EPB module and the DLC.

    • Using a good light source, inspect all disconnected electrical connectors for the following:

      • corrosion - install new connector or terminal and clean the module pins
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals or pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
      • spread terminals - install new terminals as necessary

    Are the connectors free of corrosion, damaged pins, bent pins, pushed-out pins and spread terminals? 

    Yes  GO to  M4
    No  REPAIR the connector or terminals. Refer to Connector Repair Procedures for schematic and connector information. GO to  M4

  4. M4 VERIFY THE EPB (ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE) MODULE CONFIGURATION

    • Connect all in-line electrical connectors between the EPB module and the DLC. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

    • Connect EPB module C3675 . Make sure it seats and latches correctly.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using the parking brake switch, apply the parking brakes.

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using the parking brake switch, release the parking brakes.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, CLEAR all EPB module Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the Park Brake Configuration routine.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, CLEAR all EPB module Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the EPB module self-test.

    Does DTC U3000:54 return? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) exist for this concern, INSTALL a new EPB module. Refer to: Park Brake Control Module (PBM) .
    No  The EPB module has been successfully configured. The repair is complete.
