Solenoid Body Assembly: Disassembly

  1. Remove the manual valve.

  2. Remove and discard the bulkhead connector O-ring seal.

  3. Remove the main control valve body wiring harness.
    • Remove the 2 bolts.
    • Disconnect the electrical connectors.
    • Lift the tab and twist and push the bulkhead connector through the solenoid body.
    • Remove the solenoid body wiring harness.

  4. NOTE: Mark the location of each solenoid for correct installation.

  5. Remove the shift solenoid retaining E clips and remove the solenoids.
  6. Remove the Transmission Fluid Temperature (TFT) sensor by lifting the tab and rotating counterclockwise.

  7. Note the location and length of each bolt. Remove the 4 bolts and remove the top half of the main control valve body.

  8. NOTE: The backing plate gasket should not be cleaned or reused.

  9. Remove and discard the backing plate gasket.
  10. Remove the backing plate-to-case bolts, backing plate and discard the backing plate gasket. Clean and inspect the components.
