Pinpoint Test BO: U0140:87

  1. BO1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Verify there is an observable symptom present.

    Is an observable symptom present? 

    1. Yes:  GO to BO2
    2. No:  The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  2. BO2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a scan tool, perform a Network Test.

    Does the BCM pass the network test? 

    1. Yes:  GO to BO3
    2. No:  REFER to: COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
  3. BO3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST 
    • Using a scan tool, perform the BCM module self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    1. Yes:  REFER to: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .
    2. No:  GO to BO4
  4. BO4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE ICM (INFORMATION CENTER MODULE) SELF-TEST 
    • Using a scan tool, perform the ICM self-test.

    Is DTC U3006:16 or DTC U3006:17 recorded? 

    1. Yes:  For DTC U3006:16, GO to Pinpoint Test BP 

      For DTC U3006:17, GO to Pinpoint Test BQ 

    2. No:  GO to BO5
  5. BO5 RECHECK THE ICM (INFORMATION CENTER MODULE) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) 
    NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration can be incorrectly set during the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) or the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) may not have been carried out.
    • Clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
    • Wait 10 seconds.
    • Using a scan tool, perform the ICM self-test.

    Is DTC U0140:00 still present? 

    1. Yes:  GO to BO6
    2. No:  The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  6. BO6 CHECK FOR DTC U0140 SET IN OTHER MODULES 
    • Clear all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Wait 10 seconds.
    • Using a scan tool, perform a self-test.
    • Retrieve the continuous memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from all modules.

    Is DTC U0140:00 set in the IPC? 

    1. Yes:  INSTALL a new BCM.

      REFER to: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .

    2. No:  INSTALL a new ICM.

      REFER to: Information Center Module (ICM)  .
