Pinpoint Test Be: The Perimeter Alarm Chime Is Inoperative

  1. BE1 CHECK THE SAFETY BELT WARNING CHIME OPERATION 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Monitor the safety belt warning chime when the ignition switch is transitioned from OFF to RUN for 6 seconds.

    Does the safety belt warning chime operate for approximately 6 seconds? 

    1. Yes:  GO to BE2
    2. No:  GO to Pinpoint Test BJ 
  2. BE2 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE PERIMETER ALARM 
    • Arm the perimeter alarm using the remote key locking function (key FOB).
    • Wait approximately 15 seconds for the system to arm.
    • Open the driver door using the interior door handle.

    Does the perimeter alarm sound after 12 seconds? 

    1. Yes:  GO to BE3
    2. No:  REFER to: PERIMETER ANTI-THEFT ALARM .
  3. BE3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST 
    • Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Is DTC U0140:00 recorded? 

    1. Yes:  GO to Pinpoint Test AF 
    2. No:  GO to BE4
  4. BE4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST 
    • Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    1. Yes:  REFER to: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .
    2. No:  INSTALL a new BCM.

      REFER to: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .
