Pinpoint Test BG: An Electronic Throttle Control (Etc) Or Engine Malfunction Display Is Always On

BG1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) KOEO (KEY ON, ENGINE OFF) SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the PCM KOEO self-test.
Are any PCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
1. Yes: INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE MODELS
2. No: GO to BG2
BG2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
1. Yes: REFER to: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .
2. No: GO to BG3
BG3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Are any DTC recorded?
1. Yes: For DTC U0100:00, GO to Pinpoint Test AC
  For DTC U0140:00, GO to Pinpoint Test AF
  
  For all other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), REFER to DTC Chart: IPC .
2. No: GO to BG4
BG4 CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER OPERATION
- Close all doors.
- Ignition ON.
- Open the driver front door and observe the message center operation.
Does the message center display the driver door ajar message?
1. Yes: If the engine malfunction display is always on, INSTALL a new PCM.
  REFER to: POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) .
  
  TEST the system for normal operation. If the engine malfunction display remains on, INSTALL a new IPC.
  
  REFER to: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
2. No: INSTALL a new IPC.
  REFER to: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
  
  If the engine malfunction display is never on, the system is operating correctly at this time.
