Pinpoint Test AO: U0412:86

  1. AO1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Verify there is an observable symptom present.

    Is an observable symptom present? 

    1. Yes  : GO to AO2 
    2. No  : The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC  may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  2. AO2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK 
    • Using a scan tool, perform the network test.

    Does the BECM pass the network test? 

    1. Yes  : GO to AO3 
    2. No  : REFER to: COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
  3. AO3 PERFORM THE RECORDED BATTERY ENERGY CONTROL MODULE (BECM) SELF-TEST 
    • Using a scan tool, perform the BECM  self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    1. Yes  : REFER to: HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
    2. No  : GO to  AN4
  4. AO4 PERFORM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) SELF-TEST 
    • Using a scan tool, perform the IPC  self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    1. Yes  : REFER to DTC CHART: IPC .
    2. No  : GO to AO5 
  5. AO5 RECHECK THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) 
    NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC  being set, the module configuration may be incorrectly set during the Programmable Module Installation (PMI), or the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) may not have been carried out.
    • Using a scan tool, clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
    • Wait 10 seconds.
    • Repeat the IPC  self-test.

    Is DTC U0412:82 still present? 

    1. Yes  : GO to AO6 
    2. No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC  may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  6. AO6 CHECK FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) U0111:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES 
    • Using a scan tool, clear all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Wait 10 seconds.
    • Using a scan tool, perform the continuous memory self-test.
    • Retrieve the continuous memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from all modules.

    Is DTC U0111:00 set in the SOBDM? 

    1. Yes  : INSTALL a new GWM  .

      REFER to: GATEWAY MODULE A (GWM) .

      CLEAR the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). REPEAT the self-test. If DTC  U0412:86 is still present, INSTALL a new BECM  .

      REFER to: HIGH VOLTAGE LOWER BATTERY .

      REFER to: HIGH VOLTAGE UPPER BATTERY .

    2. No  : INSTALL a new IPC  .

      REFER to: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
