SYMPTOM CHART: PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (PATS)

Condition	Possible Sources	Actions
The engine only starts with the key in the backup slot and no DTCs present	IA key battery IA programmable parameter	ATTEMPT to start the engine using 2 different IA keys, one at a time. Place an IA key on top of the center console and push the start/stop switch and brake. If the engine starts with only one of the keys on top of the center console, INSTALL a new battery in the inoperative IA key. If the engine does not start with either key on top of the center console, ENABLE the IA feature with a scan tool.
