Pinpoint Test N: Shift Solenoid B

  1. N1 RETRIEVE AND RECORD ALL DTCS 
    • Using the diagnostic scan tool, retrieve all DTCs.

    Are DTCs P0755, P0758, P0759, P0976 and/or P0977 present? 

    • Yes  : For DTCs P0755, P0758 and/or P0759, GO to N2  .

      For DTC P0976, GO to  N4.

      For DTC P0977, GO to  N6.

    • No  : GO to SYMPTOM CHART .
  2. N2 CHECK THE SSB CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: Transmission Vehicle Harness C168  .
    • Disconnect: PCM C1551E  .
    • Inspect the connectors for damaged or pushed-out terminals, corrosion, loose wires and missing or damaged seals.
    • Measure the resistance  between.
      Positive Lead Negative Lead
      Pin Circuit Pin Circuit
      C168-16  CET06 (GN/BN) C1551E-45  CET06 (GN/BN)

    Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    • Yes  : GO to N3  .
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit.
  3. N3 CHECK THE SSB FOR AN OPEN 
    • Measure the component side resistance  between.
      Positive Lead Negative Lead

    Is the resistance between 4.0 and 7.2 ohms? 

  4. N4 CHECK THE SSB CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: Transmission Vehicle Harness C168  .
    • Disconnect: PCM C1551E  .
    • Inspect the connectors for damaged or pushed-out terminals, corrosion, loose wires and missing or damaged seals.
    • Measure the resistance  between.
      Positive Lead Negative Lead
      Pin Circuit Pin Circuit
      C168-16  CET06 (GN/BN) - Ground

    Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    • Yes  : GO to N5  .
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit.
  5. N5 CHECK THE SSB FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Measure the component side resistance  between.
      Positive Lead Negative Lead
      Pin Circuit Pin Circuit

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

  6. N6 CHECK THE SSB CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: Transmission Vehicle Harness C168  .
    • Disconnect: PCM C1551E  .
    • Inspect the connectors for damaged or pushed-out terminals, corrosion, loose wires and missing or damaged seals.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Measure the voltage  between.
      Positive Lead Negative Lead
      Pin Circuit Pin Circuit
      C168-16  CET06 (GN/BN) - Ground

    Is any voltage present?
