Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE BCM CONTROL OF THE REVERSING LAMPS
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, view BCM PIDs  .
    3. Using a scan tool, select the BCM RVRS_LMPS PID. Command the reverse lamps off.

    Do the reversing lamps turn off? 

    • Yes: REFER to SYMPTOM CHART to diagnose a TR concern.
    • No: GO to .
  2. CHECK THE BCM OUTPUT
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: BCM C2280D.
    3. Ignition ON.

    Do the reversing lamps continue to illuminate? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: GO to  4.
  3. CHECK THE REVERSING LAMP VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: Auto-Dimming Interior Rear View Mirror.
    3. Ignition ON.

    Do the reversing lamps continue to illuminate? 

  4. CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION
    1. Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors.
    2. Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    3. Reconnect the BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
    4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present?
