Pinpoint Test I

  1. CHECK FOR DTCs  FROM THE APIM SELF-TEST
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, perform the APIM self-test.

    Are any DTCs present? 

  2. CHECK FOR DTCs  FROM THE BCM SELF-TEST
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.

    Is DTC B115E:08 present? 

    • Yes: GO to  15.
    • No: For an inoperative video camera feature (fixed/active guidelines, manual zoom, visual park alert or video camera delay) concern, GO to .

      For any other concern, GO to  4.

  3. ENABLE AND VERIFY THE INOPERATIVE VIDEO CAMERA FEATURE
    1. Enable and verify the inoperative video camera feature (fixed/active guidelines, manual zoom, visual park alert or video camera delay) within the FDIM.

    Does the video camera feature operate correctly? 

    • Yes: The video camera is operating correctly. The video feature concern was caused by the feature being disabled. INFORM the customer on how to enable the video camera features.
    • No: For an inoperative fixed/active guideline concern, REFER to Diagnostic Routine M: The Video Guidelines Are Inoperative .

      For any other concern, GO to .

  4. CHECK AND CLEAN THE REAR VIDEO CAMERA LENS
    1. Clean and make sure the rear video camera lens is clear of any debris.
    2. Test the video camera system and verify the video camera image.

    Is the video camera concern still present? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: The system is operating correctly. The concern was caused by an obstructed/dirty video camera lens.
  5. CHECK THE REVERSING LAMPS OPERATION
    1. Check the operation of the reversing lamps.

    Do the reversing lamps operate correctly? 

  6. CHECK THE FDIM DISPLAY
    1. Place the transmission in reverse.
    2. Observe the FDIM for 30 seconds.

    Does the screen change to video camera mode and display "Please Contact Your Dealership"? 

  7. CHECK THE VIDEO SIGNAL CIRCUITS INTEGRITY
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: APIM.
    3. Measure:

    Is the resistance between 74 and 106 ohms? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: GO to  13.
  8. CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
    1. Disconnect: Video Camera.
    2. Ignition ON.
    3. Measure:
      Video Camera Ground

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: VERIFY the BCM fuse 34 (10A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. If not OK, REFER to the appropriate OEM WIRING DIAGRAMS to identify the possible causes of the circuit short.
  9. CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? 

    • Yes: GO to 10  .
    • No: REPAIR the circuit.
  10. CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Measure:
      Video Camera Ground

    Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    • Yes: GO to 11  .
    • No: REPAIR the circuit in question.
  11. CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO THE VIDEO SHIELD
    1. Measure:

    Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    • Yes: GO to 12  .
    • No: REPAIR the circuit in question.
  12. CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Measure:

    Is any voltage present? 

    • Yes: REPAIR the circuit in question.
    • No: GO to  18.
  13. CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO EACH OTHER

    Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    • Yes: GO to 14  .
    • No: REPAIR the circuits.
  14. CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN

    Are the resistances less than 3 ohms? 

    • Yes: GO to  18.
    • No: REPAIR the circuit in question.
  15. CHECK THE LIN CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: Video Camera.
    3. Disconnect: BCM C2280C.
    4. Ignition ON.
    5. Measure:
      Video Camera Ground

    As any voltage present? 

    • Yes: REPAIR the circuit.
    • No: GO to 16  .
  16. CHECK THE LIN CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Measure:

    Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    • Yes: GO to 17  .
    • No: REPAIR the circuit.
  17. CHECK THE LIN CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
    1. Measure:

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    • Yes: GO to 18  .
    • No: REPAIR the circuit.
  18. CHECK FOR CORRECT VIDEO CAMERA OPERATION
    1. Disconnect the video camera connector.
    2. Check for:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    3. Reconnect the video camera connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
    4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    • Yes: INSTALL a new video camera. REFER to Video Camera .
    • No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by the video camera connection. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
