Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING OPERATION
    1. Close all doors.
    2. Wait one minute.
    3. Observe the exterior lights.

Are the headlamps and parking lamps off?

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REFER to SYMPTOM CHART: HEADLAMPS or REFER to SYMPTOM CHART: PARKING, REAR, AND LICENSE PLATE LAMPS .
  2. CHECK THE INTERIOR LIGHTING OPERATION
    1. Open and close the driver door.
    2. Observe the interior lamps.

Do the interior lamps operate correctly from the driver door?

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REFER to SYMPTOM CHART: INTERIOR LIGHTING .
  3. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs  FROM THE BCM SELF-TEST
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.

    Are any DTCs present?

    1. Yes: For DTC B10F1:14, GO to .

For all other DTCs  , REFER to DTC CHART: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .

    2. No: GO to  7  .
  4. CHECK THE BCM INPUT PIDs  FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH
    1. Using a scan tool, view the BCM PIDs  .
    2. Select and monitor the BCM ignition switch PIDs  (IGN_ACC/RUN), (IGN_RUN/STRT) and (IGN_SW_STATE) while cycling the ignition switch through ACC, OFF, RUN and START states.

Do the BCM PIDs match the ignition switch position?

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REFER to SYMPTOM CHART: STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES to diagnose the ignition switch outputs to the BCM.
  5. CHECK THE KEY-IN-IGNITION INPUT CIRCUIT FOR VOLTAGE
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Remove the key from the ignition cylinder.
    3. Disconnect: BCM C2280B.
    4. Measure:
      BCM Ground
      G08034123
      G08034124
      C2280B Ground
Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit
      34 CDC30 (BU/GY)
      G08034125
      - Ground

    Is any voltage present?

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: GO to  7  .
  6. CHECK KEY-IN-IGNITION INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
    1. Disconnect: Ignition Switch.
    2. Measure:
      BCM Ground
      G08034126
      G08034127
      C2280B Ground
Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit
      34 CDC30 (BU/GY)
      G08034128
      - Ground

    Is any voltage present?

    1. Yes: REPAIR the circuit.
    2. No: INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to IGNITION SWITCH .
  7. CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors.
    3. Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    4. Reconnect the BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
    5. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present

    Is the concern still present?

    1. Yes: CHECK OASIS  for any applicable TSBs  . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs  address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM:

REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITH INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) , or

REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITHOUT INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) .

    2. No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
