NOTE: Refer to DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION article, INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) WITH PUSH BUTTON START article in Section 419-01B to review the procedures for achieving the various ignition states (ignition off, ignition in accessory, ignition on, ignition start) on vehicles with this feature.
SYMPTOM CHART

Condition Possible Sources Action
  • No communication with the Headlamp Control Module 2 (HCM-2)
  • Fuse
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • HCM-2
  • The low beams turn on after a 5 second delay when the headlamp switch is placed in the HEADLAMPS ON position
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • Headlamp switch
  • Smart Junction Box (SJB)
  • Both high beams are inoperative
  • Fuse
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) relay 2
  • Multifunction switch
  • SJB
    NOTE: Refer to PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION  for the operation of the automatic high beam feature.
  • The automatic high beam feature is inoperative
  • Windshield debris
  • HCM-2
  • VERIFY the manual operation of the high beams operates correctly.
  • One low beam headlamp is inoperative - vehicles with halogen headlamps
  • Fuse
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • Headlamp relay
  • DRL relay 1
  • Headlamp assembly
  • SJB
  • One low beam headlamp is inoperative - vehicles with High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps
  • Fuse

  • One high beam headlamp is inoperative

  • The low beam(s) are always on
