Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE CRUISE CONTROL OPERATION
    1. Operate the cruise control.
    • Does the cruise control operate correctly? 
    1. Yes:  GO to 2  on page 2.
    2. No:  For standard cruise control, REFER to SYMPTOM CHART: CRUISE CONTROL .

    For adaptive cruise control, REFER to SYMPTOM CHART: CRUISE CONTROL .

  2. CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER WARNING INDICATOR FUNCTION
    1. Close all doors, hood and liftgate.
    2. Ignition ON.
    3. NOTE: If multiple warnings are present, the message center cycles through each of the warning indicators. Allow the message center to cycle through each display while determining whether the door ajar message center warning indicator is active.

    Open the driver door while monitoring the door ajar message center warning indicator.

    • Does the driver door ajar message center warning indicator turn off with the driver door closed and illuminate with the driver door open? 
    1. Yes:  GO to 3  on page 2.
    2. No:  INSTALL a new Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). REFER to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
  3. RETRIEVE AND RECORD THE Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) SELF-TEST
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) self-test.
    • Are any Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 
    1. Yes:  REFER to the appropriate Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE MODELS .
    2. No:  GO to 4  on page 2.
  4. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) SELF-TEST
  1. Using a scan tool, perform the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) self-test.
  1. Yes:  For Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0100:00, REFER to Diagnostic Routine AR .

    For all other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), REFER to DTC CHART: INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .

  2. No:  INSTALL a new Powertrain Control Module (PCM). REFER to POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) .
