Pinpoint Test

  1. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED Restraints Control Module (RCM) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE SELF-TEST
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the Restraints Control Module (RCM) self-test.
    • Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 
    1. Yes:  REFER to DTC CHART: RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE (RCM) .
    2. No:  GO to on page 2.
  2. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) SELF-TEST
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) self-test.
    • Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 
    1. Yes:  For DTC U0151:00, REFER to Diagnostic Routine AW .

      For all other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), REFER to DTC CHART: INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .

    2. No:  GO to on page 2.
  3. CHECK THE DRIVER SAFETY BELT BUCKLE SWITCH
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, view the Restraints Control Module (RCM) Parameter Identifications (PIDs).
    3. Select and monitor the Restraints Control Module (RCM) driver safety belt buckle Parameter Identification (PID) (SBELT_D_ST) while buckling and unbuckling the driver safety belt.
    • Does the Parameter Identification (PID) display BUCKLED with the safety belt buckled and UNBUCKLED with the safety belt unbuckled? 
    1. Yes:  GO to on page 2.
    2. No:  INSTALL a new driver safety belt buckle. REFER to SAFETY BELT BUCKLE AND PRETENSIONER . If the concern still exists, INSTALL a new Restraints Control Module (RCM). REFER to RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE (RCM) .
  4. CARRY OUT THE Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) INDICATOR LAMP CONTROL ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, view the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Parameter Identifications (PIDs).
    3. Select the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) safety belt warning indicator (SBLT_LAMP) active command. Command the safety belt warning indicator on and off. Observe the safety belt warning indicator.
    • Does the safety belt warning indicator illuminate when commanded on and turn off when commanded off? 
    1. Yes:  If the safety belt warning indicator is never on, the system is operating correctly at this time.

      If the safety belt warning indicator is always on, INSTALL a new Restraints Control Module (RCM). REFER to RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE (RCM) .

    2. No:  INSTALL a new Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). REFER to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
