Pinpoint Test

  1. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) SELF-TEST
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) self-test.
    • Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 
    1. Yes:  REFER to the appropriate Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE MODELS .
    2. No:  GO to on page 2.
  2. CARRY OUT THE SPEEDOMETER ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, view the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Parameter Identifications (PIDs).
    3. Select the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) speedometer (SPDOMETER) Parameter Identification (PID). Command the speedometer on and off while monitoring the speedometer.
    • Does the speed begin at 0 kmh (0 mph) move to 225 kmh (140 mph) and return to 0 kmh (0 mph)? 
    1. Yes:  GO to on page 2.
    2. No:  INSTALL a new Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). REFER to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
  3. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) SELF-TEST
  1. Using a scan tool, perform the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) self-test.
  1. Yes:  For Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0100:00, REFER to Diagnostic Routine AR .

    For all other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), REFER to DTC CHART: INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .

  2. No:  INSTALL a new Powertrain Control Module (PCM). REFER to POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) .
