Pinpoint Test
- RETRIEVE THE RECORDED Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) self-test.
- Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
- Yes: REFER to DTC CHART: INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
- No: GO to 2 on page 2.
- RETRIEVE THE RECORDED Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Powertrain Control Module (PCM) SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) self-test.
- Are any Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
- Yes:
REFER to DTC CHART: POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM)

For all other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), REFER to the appropriate Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE MODELS .
- No: GO to 3 on page 2.
- CHECK THE DISPLAY MODE MENU
- On the optional Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC), in the display mode menu, press the Left Hand (LH) steering wheel switch to the right to display the Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) gauge.
- On the base Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC), in the Information display mode, press the Left Hand (LH) steering wheel switch to the right then down to display the Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) gauge.
- Does the Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) gauge display?
- Yes: The Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) gauge is operating correctly at this time. The display mode was not set to correct display mode.
- No: INSTALL a new Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). REFER to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
