Pinpoint Test
- VERIFY THE SCAN TOOL CAN COMMUNICATE WITH THE Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
- Connect the scan tool.
- Check that a vehicle session can be established using the scan tool.
- Can a vehicle session be established?
- Yes: GO to 2 on page 2.
- No: REFER to Diagnostic Routine A .
- CHECK THE Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) CONTINUOUS MEMORY Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, perform the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) self-test.
- Clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Repeat the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) self-test.
- Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0100:00 retrieved again?
- Yes: GO to 3 on page 2.
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
- RETRIEVE THE RECORDED Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) self-test.
- Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0562 or P0563 recorded?
- Yes: REFER to DTC CHART: POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) .
- No: GO to 4 on page 2.
- RETRIEVE THE RECORDED Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) self-test.
- Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
- Yes: REFER to DTC CHART: INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
- No: GO to 5 on page 2.
- CHECK FOR Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0100:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, retrieve all continuous memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0100:00 set in the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module or in the Restraints Control Module (RCM)?
- Yes: INSTALL a new Powertrain Control Module (PCM). REFER to POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) .
- No: INSTALL a new Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). REFER to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
