Pinpoint Test

1. Close all doors, hood and liftgate.
2. Ignition ON.
3. Open the driver door while monitoring the message center displays.

• Does the message center display DRIVER DOOR AJAR? 

1. Yes:  GO to 2  on page 2.
2. No:  INSTALL a new Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). REFER to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .

1. Using a scan tool, perform the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) self-test.

• Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0457 recorded? 

1. Yes:  If the CHECK FUEL FILL INLET message is always on, REFER to the appropriate Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE MODELS .

   If the CHECK FUEL FILL INLET message is inoperative, GO to 3  on page 2.

2. No:  If the CHECK FUEL FILL INLET message is always on, INSTALL a new Powertrain Control Module (PCM). REFER to POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) .

If the CHECK FUEL FILL INLET message is inoperative, the system is operating normally at this time. If the fuel inlet was open and the CHECK FUEL FILL INLET message did not turn on, driving conditions may not have allowed for the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to run the cruise test and message the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) to turn the CHECK FUEL FILL INLET message on.
