Pinpoint Test
- VERIFY THE Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) PASSES THE NETWORK TEST
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, perform the network test.
- Verify whether the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) passed the network test.
- Did the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) pass the network test?
- Yes: GO to 2 on page 2.
- No: REFER to Diagnostic Routine H .
- CARRY OUT THE Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) self-test.
- Check for recorded Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) self-test.
- Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
- Yes:
For Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0140:00, REFER to Diagnostic Routine AV .
For all other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), REFER to DTC CHART: INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
- No: GO to 3 on page 2.
- CHECK FOR CORRECT Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) OPERATION
- Disconnect and inspect the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) connector.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes: CHECK On-Line Automotive Service Information System (OASIS) for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). REFER to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
