Connecting Rod Bearings: Removal

Remove the oil pan. For additional information, refer to Engine Lubrication Components - Exploded View and Oil Pan - Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) or Oil Pan - Four Wheel Drive (4WD) in this article.
Remove the 7 nuts and the oil pan baffle.

CAUTION: The connecting rod bearing caps and the connecting rods are a matched set. Installing the incorrect connecting rod bearing cap on a connecting rod may result in engine damage.

Remove the 2 nuts and the connecting rod bearing cap.
Lift the piston slightly and remove the connecting rod bearings.
