Symptom Chart - Warning Chimes

SYMPTOM CHART - WARNING CHIMES

Condition Possible Sources Action
  • All the chimes are inoperative
  • IC 
  • The chime sounds when the driver door is ajar (no key in ignition and headlamps off)
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • Key-in-ignition warning switch (part of the ignition switch)
  • SJB 
  • The headlamps on warning chime is inoperative
  • Door ajar indication concern
  • SJB 
  • IC 
  • The turn signal on warning chime is inoperative
  • IC 
  • The safety belt warning chime is inoperative
  • Safety belt warning indication concern
  • IC 
  • The Belt-Minder® feature does not operate correctly
  • Belt-Minder® deactivated
  • Safety belt warning indication concern
  • IC 
  • The door ajar warning chime is inoperative
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • SJB 
  • IC 
  • OBSERVE the door ajar warning indicator.
    • If the door ajar warning indicator does not operate correctly, GO to PINPOINT TEST AA . TEST the system for normal operation.
    • If the door ajar warning indicator operates correctly, INSTALL a new IC  . REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The parking brake warning chime is inoperative
  • Brake warning indication concern
  • IC 
  • The air bag secondary warning chime is inoperative/has activated
  • IC 
  • RETRIEVE the recorded IC  DTCs from the continuous and on-demand self-tests.
    • If the IC  DTC B1868 is not present, the system is operating correctly. The air bag secondary warning chime sounds only when a fault in the air bag warning indicator is present and DTC B1868 is recorded.
    • If the IC  DTC B1868 is present, INSTALL a new IC  . REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
