Pinpoint Test Be: DTC U2472

NOTE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
  1. BE1 CHECK THE IC RUN/START VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR VOLTAGE WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH IN THE OFF POSITION 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: IC  C220.
    • Measure the voltage between the IC  C220-20, circuit CBP29 (WH/VT), harness side and ground with the ignition switch in the OFF position.

    • Is any voltage present? 
    • Yes:  GO to BE2  .
    • No:  GO to  BE3.
  2. BE2 CHECK THE IC RUN/START VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE 
    • Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250.
    • Measure the voltage between the IC  C220-20, circuit CBP29 (WH/VT), harness side and ground.

    • Is any voltage present? 
    • Yes:  REPAIR circuit CBP29 (WH/VT) for a short to voltage. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
    • No:  REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES to diagnose the ignition switch.
  3. BE3 CHECK THE IC RUN/START VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR VOLTAGE WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH IN THE ACC POSITION 
    • Ignition In ACC.
    • Measure the voltage between the IC  C220-20, circuit CBP29 (WH/VT), harness side and ground with the ignition switch in the ACC position.

    • Is any voltage present? 
  4. BE4 CHECK THE IC VOLTAGE INPUT WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH IN THE ON POSITION 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Measure the voltage between the IC  C220-20, circuit CBP29 (WH/VT), harness side and ground with the ignition switch in the ON position.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
  5. BE5 CHECK THE SJB INPUT PIDs FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH 
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: SJB  DataLogger.
    • Monitor the SJB  ignition switch accessory (IGN_A_ECU), off (IGN_O_ECU), run (IGN_R_ECU), and start (IGN_S_ECU) while cycling the ignition switch from ACC to OFF, RUN and START.
    • Do the SJB PIDs match the ignition switch positions? 
  6. BE6 RECHECK THE IC DTCs 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: IC  Self-Test.
    • Clear all DTCs. Repeat the IC  self-test.
    • Is DTC U2472 still present? 
    • Yes:  GO to BE7  .
    • No:  GO to  BE8.
  7. BE7 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all the SJB  connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • damaged pins
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the SJB  connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify that the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    • Yes:  INSTALL a new SJB  . REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES . TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No:  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  8. BE8 CHECK FOR CORRECT IC OPERATION 
    • Disconnect the IC  connector.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • damaged pins
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect the IC  connector and make sure it seats correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    • Yes:  INSTALL a new IC  . REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No:  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
