Pinpoint Test As: DTC B1363
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Lincoln MKX and 2010 Ford Edge. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- AS1 CARRY OUT THE IC SELF-TEST
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: IC Self-Test.
- Clear the DTCs. Repeat the IC self-test.
- Is DTC B1363 still present?
- Yes: GO to AS2 .
- No: The system is operating normally at this time. The concern may have resulted from an intermittent network concern.
- AS2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE SJB SELF-TEST
- Check for recorded SJB DTCs from the self-test.
- Are any SJB DTCs recorded?
- Yes: REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES .
- No: GO to AS3 .
- AS3 CHECK THE SJB IGNITION SWITCH PID
- Disconnect: Starter Relay.
- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: SJB DataLogger.
- Monitor the SJB ignition switch (IGN_S_ECU) PID with the ignition switch in the START position then in the RUN position.
- Does the PID indicate YES with the ignition in the START position and NO in the RUN position?
- Yes: GO to AS6.
- No: GO to AS4 .
- AS4 CHECK THE IGNITION SWITCH INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: SJB C2280b.
- Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure the voltage between the ignition switch C250-7, circuit CDC35 (BU/WH), harness side and ground.
- Is any voltage present?
- Yes: REPAIR circuit CDC35 (BU/WH) for a short to voltage. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- No: GO to AS5 .
- AS5 CHECK THE IGNITION SWITCH OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Connect: Ignition Switch C250.
- Place the key in the START position.
- Measure the voltage between the SJB C2280b-32, circuit CDC35 (BU/WH), harness side and ground.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure the voltage between the SJB C2280b-32, circuit CDC35 (BU/WH), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts with the ignition switch in the START position then drop to 0 volts with the ignition switch in the RUN position?
- Yes: GO to AS6 .
- No: INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- AS6 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB MODULE OPERATION
- Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify that the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes: INSTALL a new SJB . REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
