Instrument Panel

- Depower the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
- Remove the floor console. For additional information, refer to Console - Floor .
- Remove the weatherstripping from the front door openings near the instrument panel.
- Remove the LH and RH instrument panel end trim panels.
- Remove the LH and RH A-pillar trim panels. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .
- Remove the LH and RH cowl panels.
- Remove the steering column cover.
- Remove the 2 column cover screws.
- Disengage the steering column cover from the retaining clips.
- Disconnect the electrical connector and hose, if equipped.
- Remove the bolt and the hood opening handle.
- Position the handle aside.
- Disconnect the LH bulkhead electrical connector from under the steering column.
- Disconnect the RH bulkhead electrical connector from under the steering column.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors from the left cowl panel side.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors and the antenna lead-in cable from the right cowl panel side.
- Remove the harness from the retainers.
- Disconnect the 2 A/C electrical connectors from inside the glove compartment.
- Disconnect the blower motor resistor or blower motor speed control electrical connector from the top of the heater core and evaporator core housing.
- Disconnect the shift cable from the ball stud on the shifter.
- Remove the shift cable from the retaining clips.
- Remove the 4 screws (2 each side) from the inner floor console support.
- Remove the screws from the front inner floor console support-to-instrument panel.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors from the front inner floor console.
- Remove the inner floor console support.
- Disconnect the restraints control module (RCM) small electrical connector.
- Remove the LH push pin retainer and position the carpet aside.
- Remove the LH push pin retainer from the instrument panel-to-A/C duct.
- Remove the 2 LH instrument panel-to-floor bolts.
- To install, tighten to 22 N.m (16 lb-ft).
- Remove the RH push pin retainer and position the carpet aside.
- Remove the screw from the RH instrument panel brace-to-A/C duct.
- Remove the RH instrument panel brace-to-floor bolt.
- To install, tighten to 22 N.m (16 lb-ft).
- Remove the 2 nuts and the LH instrument panel brace-to-A/C duct.
- Remove the steering column pinch bolt.
- To install, tighten to 25 N.m (18 lb-ft).
- Remove the upper cowl panel grille. For additional information, refer to FRONT END BODY PANELS .
- Remove the bolt from the front of dash.
- To install, tighten to 20 N.m (15 lb-ft).
- Remove the front driver seat. For additional information, refer to SEATING .
- Remove the Torx® head bolt from inside the LH door.
- To install, tighten to 30 N.m (22 lb-ft).
- Remove the 2 bolts from inside the LH door.
- To install, tighten to 20 N.m (15 lb-ft).
- Remove the 2 bolts from the bracket under the steering column.
- To install, tighten to 22 N.m (16 lb-ft).
- Remove the LH instrument panel-to-body bolt.
- To install, tighten to 7 N.m (62 lb-in).
- Remove the bolt from the RH instrument panel cowl side panel.
- To install, tighten to 22 N.m (16 lb-ft).
- Remove the RH instrument panel-to-body bolt.
- To install, tighten to 7 N.m (62 lb-ft).
- Remove the bolt and the hood opening handle.
- Position the handle aside.
- Remove the instrument panel.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
CAUTION:
Electronic modules are sensitive to static charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.
NOTE:
The Torx® head bolt is not completely removed. The bolt is pulled outward far enough to allow for clearance when removing the instrument panel.

To avoid damage to the instrument panel, this next step requires the help of an assistant.
