Pinpoint Test X: The Reversing Lamps Are Inoperative

- X1 CHECK THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) PIDs
- Key in ON position.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: TCM Transmission Range PIDs.
- Monitor the TCM transmission range PIDs while placing the gear selector lever through all gear selections.
- Do all the PIDs agree with the gear selections?
Yes: GO to X2.
No: REFER to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - CVT or AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE - 6 SPEED to continue diagnosis of the transaxle.
- X2 CHECK CIRCUIT 1367 (WH/YE) FOR AN OPEN
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: SJB 02280e.
- Connect a fused (10A) jumper wire between the SJB C2280e-18, circuit 1367 (WH/YE) and the positive battery terminal.
- Do the reversing lamps illuminate?
Yes: REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to X3.
No: REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- X3 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION
- Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes: INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION . TEST the system for normal operation.
No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
